RPI's Kyle Hallbauer, shown in a previous game, took the shot that Max Smolinski tipped in for the Engineers' only goal in a loss to Alaska-Fairbanks on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022. Hallbauer said RPI has to match the Nanooks' energy in the rematch Saturday.Hans Pennink/Times UnionThe RPI hockey team could have used a wake-up call after getting off to a slow start Friday against the visiting Alaska-Fairbanks Nanooks.Unfortunately for the Engineers, the call never arrived and a 3-1 nonconference loss at Houston Field House featured just 13 shots on goal for RPI and the power play misfired on all four of its opportunities in the first game of a two-game set between the teams this weekend.
