FAIRBANKS (Your Alaska Link) - Alaska's railroad is now 100 years old -- and if you've ever wanted to learn more about the iconic railroad and take a ride on a train -- you'll have your chance this weekend. The Alaska Railroad Corporation is holding a free "Railroad Days" centennial open house in Fairbanks. It will include free train rides, prizes, family-friendly activities, and the opportunity to meet and interact with railroaders. The event is happening this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fairbanks Depot.
