They think they know what Alaska is like, with an imagination fueled by media depictions and rampant myths, reality shows and cartoons. And it's not really their fault. Information consumed over a lifetime is not easily ignored, and the variety of cultures, geographies, and climates that make up Alaska is difficult to describe succinctly.
